<p><strong><em>PSL 2024 Points Table, Most Runs, Most Wickets:</em> </strong>The new edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) began on Saturday, February 17, with the defending champion Lahore Qalandar's taking on Islamabad United at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. The high-scoring game between the two sides saw Islamabad United seal the deal by defeating <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/shaheen-shah-afridi-of-pakistan-reclaims-no-1-spot-in-odi-bowling-rankings-updated-icc-player-rankings/" title="Shaheen Shah Afridi" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Shaheen Shah Afridi</a>-led Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets.</p>



<p>The fixture began with Islamabad United winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Lahore Qalandars got off to a good start with Shahibzada Farhan scoring a quickfire 57 runs in just 36 deliveries. The innings also saw an onslaught from Rassie van der Dussen, who slammed 41-ball 71 with the help of four boundaries and 3 sixes. Later in the innings Shafique and David Wiese added brisk 28 and 14 runs respectively to take Lahore's total to 195 runs in 20 overs.</p>



<p>Islamabad United couldn't get a flashy start to their innings as flamboyant opener Colin Munro was dismissed cheaply by Zaman Khan. However, later on, the likes of Alex Hales, Shadab Khan and Agha Salman played sensational knocks to take their side home. English batter Alex Hales added 36 runs while opening the innings, but it was the effort of skipper Shabad Khan, who played a magnificent 41-ball 74-run knock, and Agha Salman, who contributed with 31-ball 64 runs and took their side to a victory.</p>



<p>Islamabad United chased the total with 10 balls to spare and eight wickets in hand. To start a new edition of the PSL, it was a sensational effort from the Islamabad United players as they outplayed the defending champions of the Pakistan Super League with such ease.</p>

<p>Islamabad United Shadab Khan is currently leading the PSL 2024 Most Runs leaderboard with unbeaten 74 runs against Lahore Qalandars in the opening game of the Pakistan Super League 2024. The second on the list is Rassie Van Der Dussen, who played a sensational knock of 71 runs for Lahore Qalandars in the first innings.</p>



<p>Islamabad United's Agha Salman is placed third in the PSL 2024 Most Runs list with 64 runs, followed by Sahibzada Farhan (57 runs), Alex Hales (36 runs) and Abdullah Shafique (28 runs) respectively.</p>

<p>The fixture began with Islamabad United losing both their explosive openers in a quick period after scoring single-digit scores. As the team was pushed into the backfoot, Agha Salman and Jordon Cox came to the rescue and stitched a good 68-run partnership for the third wicket. However, Multan Sultan was quick to respond and picked the wicket of Jordon Cox, who looked dangerous after scoring 41 runs in 28 deliveries.</p>



<p>The opening was made and Multan doubled down on their wickets column as they subsequently removed Azam Khan, Imad Wasim and skipper Shabad Khan. Agha Salman, who held the other end too got dismissed soon after he scored his half-century. Once Salman was dismissed, it was then just a matter of time for Multan to wrap up the innings by removing the tailenders.</p>



<p>In 20 overs, Islamabad United could only score 144 runs in the loss of 10 wickets. For Multan, Mohammad Ali and Abbas Ali remained the pick of the bowlers as they scalped three wickets each.</p>



<p>Multan Sultan, too, suffered a loss early on in their innings, in the form of batter Dawid Malan, who was dismissed for a duck by Naseen Shah. However, Mohammad Rizwan and Reeza Hendricks joined the forces to take their side to a decent score. The two added 71 runs to the total before the dismissal of Rizwan, who was batting at 43 runs.</p>



<p>Later on in the innings, Islamabad United also managed to get rid of Reeza Hendricks at a score of 125 runs. With both set batters out, Multan Sultan went in a shell against Islamabad United's bowling lineup. The opposition kept on building pressure and took the game deep to the extent that Multan required one run from two balls.</p>



<p>Eventually, it was Multan Sultan, who registered a win by 5 wickets, their second straight in the ongoing season of the PSL 2024. </p>

<p><strong>Pakistan Super League 2024 Points Table: </strong>The Wednesday double-header of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 ended with Karachi Kings defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the afternoon game while Multan Sultan thumped defending champions Lahore Qalandars in the evening fixture. While the first fixture of the day was held in Gaddafi Stadium, the other was hosted at the Multan Cricket Stadium.</p>

<p>Talking about the afternoon fixture, Shan Masood-led Karachi Kings got better of Babar Azam-spearheaded Peshawar Zalmi by 7 wickets. Peshawar Zalmi could score 154 runs in 19.5 overs in the loss of 10 wickets. Skipper Babar Azam remained the pick of the batters as he played a sublime knock of 51-ball 72. Rovman Powell, later in the innings, scored 25-ball 39 followed by Asif Ali's 16-ball 23 to take Peshawar's total to 154 runs.</p>



<p>For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali and Mir Hamza scalped three wickets each while Daniel Sams picked two.</p>



<p>In the chase of 154 runs, Karachi Kings got decent partnerships right from the start of the innings. Though none of their batters, barring Kieron Pollard, could play long innings, the handy contributions did the trick for them. All-rounder Kieron Pollard, late in the innings, played a blitz knock of unbeaten 49 runs in just 21 deliveries and single-handedly snatched away the game off Peshawar's grasp.</p>



<p>Eventually, it was Karachi Kings, who managed to emerge victorious against Peshawar Zalmi by 7 wickets.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="psl-2024-multan-sultan-vs-lahore-qalandars"><strong>PSL 2024: Multan Sultan vs Lahore Qalandars</strong></h2>



<p>In the other fixture of the day, Multan Sultan recorded their third win of the season by defeating Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets. Batting first, Lahore scored a total of 166 runs in 20 overs. The defending champions rose on the back of Rassie van der Dussen's fine 54 runs knock which came in just 37 deliveries and Fakhar Zaman's 36-ball 41 to post 166 runs.</p>



<p>To lead from the front, Multan Sultan skipper Mohammad Rizwan played a match-winning 82 runs knock and led his side to the win convincingly. Multan managed to complete the target in 19 overs and won the fixture.</p>

<p><strong>Pakistan Super League 2024 Points Table:</strong> A thrilling and exhilarating match number 13 of the Pakistan Super League 2024 saw Peshawar Zalmi record their third win of the season by defeating Islamabad United by 8 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The fixture, held last night, saw many twists and turns in its tale before it eventually finished on Peshawar's side.</p>

<p>Colin Munro's and Azam Khan's brilliant knocks of 71 and 75 runs went in vain as Islamabad United failed to chase 201 runs target in 20 overs. Islamabad could only amass 193 runs in their quota of 20 overs. </p>



<p>Despite Colin Munro playing a 53-ball 71-run knock, the game looked in complete control of Peshawar Zalmi for most of the time. However, the onslaught of wicketkeeper batter Azam Khan made the opposition scratch their heads. Azam Khan wreaked havoc with his sensational 30-ball 75 runs knock which included 6 fours and as many sixes.</p>



<p>Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi had no answer to Azam Khan's aggression and the batter took his side close to the target. However, he couldn't close the game as he was dismissed by Naveen ul Haq in the 18th over with Islamabad United still requiring 20 runs off the final two overs.</p>



<p>Arif Yaqoob delivered the penultimate over of the innings and sealed the game for his team as he scalped four wickets, including the wicket of Colin Munro, by giving away a mere two runs.</p>



<p>Eventually, Islamabad United could only score 193 runs in the loss of 9 wickets in their quota of 20 overs and lost the fixture against Peshawar Zalmi by 8 runs.</p>



<p>Earlier in the innings, Peshawar Zalmi scored 201 runs owing to skipper Babar Azam's brilliant century, his 11th overall in the T20 format. Babar and Saim Ayub stitched a good 77 runs-opening partnership to begin the proceedings of the game against Islamabad United. However, Agha Salman dismissed Saim Ayub at a score of 38 runs. </p>



<p>While the Islamabad United bowlers ensured that no incoming batter got too comfortable on the surface, they couldn't resist Babar Azam, who played a 111-run innings in 63 deliveries. With the hefty contribution from the skipper, Peshawar Zalmi posted a 201-run total.</p>
