WPL 2023: Women's cricket is the present sensation in recent scenarios, and world cricket is giving similar importance to women's cricket as that of men's cricket by hosting several ICC tournaments similar to those for men's cricket.&nbsp;



The initiative of the WPL was taken, and keeping the Women's BBL in mind, the BCCI is now all set to provide an equal and greater platform for their women players to compete with their international contemporaries.&nbsp;

Healy is one of those legendary names in women's cricket and is one of the most fierce strikers of the cricket ball. Healy has proven her worth throughout the last few years, since when she was promoted to the top of the order. The UP Warriorz captain is expected to do equally well in the WPL as she does in international T20s or the WBBL.&nbsp;

Sciver is one of those very reasons that England is still in a competitive phase in world cricket despite no other player showing any sort of resistance, especially in the batting department. The Match was very exciting as Mumbai dominated in the first innings and led the Match into their hand. But warriorz also fought very well.



At the start of the second innings, UP seemed in a problematic situation as the wickets kept on getting down, but the partnership between Navgire and G. Harris balanced their team and led them back into the game,o, but it did not go long. In the end, the Match was in the hand of Mumbai, whereas the Warriorz kept losing their wicket and hence looses the Match as well.

Sciver led the Match single-handedly into the hand of Mumbai. She performed very well and scored 72 runs and also took 1 Wicket. Sciver is currently the third most run-scorer this season, as the first position was acquired by DC?s skipper M. lanning. Today Sciver showed admirable intent in playing during batting in the first inning of the Match, and she played good shots that were needed and respected the ball when it was good.

Mumbai Indians batter Nat Sciver-Brunt entered her name in the record books of the Women's <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/wpl-2026-mi-vs-rcb-probable-playing-xi-women-s-premier-league-2026-mumbai-indians-vs-royal-challengers-bengaluru-match-no-1/" title="Premier League" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Premier League</a> (WPL). She now has the joint highest number of half-centuries in the history of the league, joining the likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Ellyse Perry and others. 
Nat Sciver-Brunt achieved the feat in the game against Gujarat Giants in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025. The 5th match of the tournament between the teams took place at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday (18th February).
After losing the first game of the WPL 2025, Mumbai Indians made a strong comeback as they defeated Gujarat Giants by 5 wickets. One of the major reasons behind the win of the franchise was Nat Sciver-Brunt, as she played a brilliant innings and helped the team chase the target of 120 runs. 
Nat Sciver-Brunt played a magnificent innings of 57 runs off 37 balls. She batted with a strike rate of over 146 and slammed 11 boundaries in her innings. This was her fifth half-century in the history of the WPL as she joined the greats of the game in the elite list.

Coming to the match, Mumbai Indians registered a five-wicket win at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. Asked to bat, it was the worst possible start with the bat for Gujarat Giants as Mumbai Indians bowlers were all over the batters. The Ashleigh Gardner-led side was left tottering at 43 for five. 
With the team under pressure, Harleen Deol (32) and Kashvee Gautam (20) played vital hands that brought the team back into the game. A decent contributions from Tanuja Kanwar and Sayali Satghare powered Gujarat to the total of 120. For Mumbai, <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/wpl-2026-why-hayley-matthews-missed-the-mi-vs-upw-clash-/" title="Hayley Matthews" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Hayley Matthews</a> was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of three for 16. 
Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians were off to a decent start, with Hayley Matthews (17)  and Yastika Bhatia (8) adding 22 runs for the opening partnership. But both the batters lost their wickets in quick succession along with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. 
However, Nat Sciver-Brunt (57) slammed a brilliant half-century and, along with Amelia Kerr (19), added 45 runs for the fourth wicket to take the team close to target. Although, Mumbai lost a few wickets but they comfortably chased the target with five wickets.

Match number five of the 2025 Women's <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/wpl-2026-mi-vs-rcb-probable-playing-xi-women-s-premier-league-2026-mumbai-indians-vs-royal-challengers-bengaluru-match-no-1/" title="Premier League" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Premier League</a> (WPL) was played between the Gujarat Giants (GG) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Kotambi Stadium of Vadodara. Both teams are regarded as two of the strongest teams in the competition and everyone was expecting to see a hard fought contest between the two sides. 
But, it turned out to be a one sided contest and the Mumbai fan base got the chance to be the happier fan base at the end of the game as the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team secured a comfortable &amp; easy win over the Ashleigh Gardner-led Gujarat Giants by a margin of wickets. 
Having won the toss first and elected to field first, it was pretty solid effort from the Mumbai Indians with the ball in hand. They did a fine job of containing the Gujarat Giants batters who were scoring a lot of runs in the last two games and this time around, they weren't able to do anything in front of the supreme bowling effort of MI. 
GG had a forgettable start to the innings when they lost Laura Wolvaardt and Beth Mooney cheaply. Despite poor shows at the top of the order, Giants have had Ashleigh Gardner coming down and rescuing them but this time around even the skipper was dismissed for a low score.
Only Harleen Deol stuck for a good chunk of the innings and managed to scrape through a sizeable total.
MI had all of their bowlers chipping in with a wicket contribution, while Parunika Sisodia had a poor debut, the others managed to chip in at regular intervals and do the job.
<a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/wpl-2026-why-hayley-matthews-missed-the-mi-vs-upw-clash-/" title="Hayley Matthews" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Hayley Matthews</a> was the pick of the bowlers, managing to add three scalps to her tally, Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver Brunt picked up two wickets while Shabnim lsmail and Amanjot Kaur picked up one wicket a plece. All in all, it was a complete bowling performance from the inaugural champions. 
121 is what Mumbai Indians needed and it turned out to be a walk in the park for the inaugural champions as they easily chased down the total in 16.1 overs at the expense of five wickets. This win also helped the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team to register their first win in the third edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL). 
The target was certainly an underpar score given the way the pitch had behaved coming into the contest and the batting unit of MI certainly wanted to end the game quickly. 
The bowlers of the Gujarat-based team started the chase on a good note as the duo of Tanuna Kanwar &amp; Ashleigh Gardner began well while Deandra Dottin also bowled a good first over. 
MI's Hayley Matthews (17 runs) went berserk in the powerplay, hitting three boundaries before hitting the ball straight into the hands of Harleen Deol at square leg. English batter Nat Sciver-Brunt arrived at the crease at number three and she tried to get involved in a partnership with wicketkeeper batter Yastika Bhatia at the other end but her partner wasn't able to get going and was eventually dismissed by Priya Mishra (2-40). 
But, Sciver-Brunt wasn't in the mood to stop and she came out with a positive &amp; aggressive intent, as she played some exceptional shots and used the full depth of the crease in a beautiful manner. 
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (4 runs) , batting at number four, wanted to support her and she hit her very first ball for a four but got out on the very next ball as Kashvee Gautam got the better of her. MI were looking in trouble but Amelia Kerr provided the support to Sciver-Brunt which she needed and the two got involved in a partnership of 45 runs and ensured that the chase of 121 runs became easier. They took their chances from time to time and struck some impressive boundaries to never allow the required rate to climb. 
Medium pace bowler Kashvee Gautam though added a temporary hault in the easy looking chase of MI as she sent Kerr back to the pavilion in the 15th over but by then, the damage had already been done. 32-year-old Sciver-Brunt completed her fifty but she couldn't stay till the end and was eventually sent back to the dugout in the 16th over. 
But in the end, two boundaries from the duo of Sajeevan Sajana &amp; G Kamalini helped their team cross the finish line with 23 balls to spare. Medium Pacer Kashvee Gautam was the best Gujarat Giants bowler as she ended the game with figures of 2-15 to her name. Priya Mishra &amp; Tanuja Kanwar also chipped in with two &amp; one scalps respectively. 
This win helped the Mumbai Indians to register their first win of the season and occupy the 2nd spot in the <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ilt20-points-table-salt-pepper-combo-stunned-gg-took-abu-dhabi-in-top-4/" title="points table" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">points table</a> while the Giants on the other hand, suffered their second defeat in the current edition of the WPL and have dropped down to the 3rd spot.

This match was a true delight for cricket lovers, with twists and turns that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Mumbai Indians fought hard versus each other in match number seven of the WPL but in the end, MI clinched this nail-biting encounter by a margin of four wickets.

This tournament has been for the chasing teams up until now. All seven matches have been won by the teams batting second. 
Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. Smriti Mandhana started things for RCB and then there was a cluster of wickets. However, a big 81-run knock from Ellyse Perry kept them alive and RCB posted a fighting total of 167 runs.
The chase took a shaky start with Yastika Bhatia's wicket. Hayley and Nat Sciver then provided stability with a handy partnership. Harmanpreet Kaur's late bashing took MI close to the target and Amanjot Kaur's patience won them the game by 4 wickets in the second last ball of the game.

RCB vs MI WPL: The <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/wpl-2026-mi-vs-rcb-probable-playing-xi-women-s-premier-league-2026-mumbai-indians-vs-royal-challengers-bengaluru-match-no-1/" title="Royal Challengers Bengaluru" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Royal Challengers Bengaluru</a> have defeated the Mumbai Indians in the last match of the league stage, and the Delhi Capitals have again qualified directly for the finals of the tournament.
RCB finally got a win, and it took a lot of runs batting first to cover up the weak bowling lineup. It was an important match for the Mumbai Indians, and Harmanpreet started things off by winning the toss. Batting second was a no-brainer. Royal Challengers Bengaluru strengthened their batting today, and it was pretty evident with the aggressive start.
<h3 data-start="0" data-end="23">RCB Batting First</h3>
Smriti Mandhana showcased her trademark elegance, while Sabbhineni Meghana provided the early fireworks. Meghana’s aggressive start was cut short in the fourth over, bringing the orange cap holder, Ellyse Perry, to the crease. Mandhana and Perry then built a solid 60-run partnership in seven overs, laying the foundation for a formidable total.

Mandhana’s fluent 37-ball 53 came to an end when she was caught by Ismail off Kerr’s bowling. In came Richa Ghosh, and she wasted no time in stamping her authority, smashing a quickfire 36 off 22 balls to keep the momentum alive.
At the other end, Perry was dispatching MI’s bowlers with authority, but it was Georgia Wareham who provided the late blitz. She hammered 31 runs off just 10 balls, propelling RCB to a commanding total of 199 in their 20 overs.
<h3 data-start="838" data-end="869">MI’s Chase: A Lone Battle</h3>
Chasing 200, Mumbai Indians needed a blazing start, but Sneh Rana struck early, dismissing Hayley Matthews. Amelia Kerr struggled for 10 balls before falling to Rana in her second over, putting MI under immediate pressure.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur tried to anchor the innings but failed to find her timing. Amanjot Kaur, Yastika Bhatia, Kamalini, and Sanskriti Gupta all fell while trying to keep up with the soaring required run rate.

However, Nat Sciver-Brunt stood tall, single-handedly keeping MI in the contest. Her breathtaking 69 off 35 balls gave MI a glimmer of hope, but Perry’s well-disguised slower delivery ended her resistance.
With 44 runs needed off the final 12 balls, MI’s chances were slim. S Sajana fought till the end, but RCB held their nerve, sealing an 11-run victory in the final league stage match.
Inference: A good match and result for the defending champions, but this will be the end of the road for them in the tournament. They ended up winning three matches out of 8, placing at 4th spot on the table.
