BCCI floats tender for a fresh cycle of Media Rights of the Tata IPL: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday floated the Invitation To Tender (ITT) document in the market for the media rights of the next cycle of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The next cycle of the IPL media rights will run from 2023 to 2027.



The cricket board further revealed that for the very first time the e-Auction will be held for the sale of media rights of the IPL. The last time BCCI conducted an e-Auction was in 2018 for the sale of Indian cricket?s media rights.



Though the process of e-auction may run for multiple days, the final call will be taken on June 12 by the office-bearers. As per the experts, the process may take anywhere from 40-60 days to complete the entire tender process.



"I've no doubts that with this process there will not only be revenue maximisation but also value maximisation, which will benefit India Cricket immensely," Shah said confirming the e-auction date.

Mr Shah informed that the Invitation to Tender (ITT) document is live for sale and is priced at INR 25 Lakhs, non-refundable, plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. In the previous cycle of the media rights, the ITT document was sold at INR 10 Lakhs.



"The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, proposed media rights packages, and obligations, etc. are contained in the 'Invitation to Tender' ("ITT") which will be made available on receipt of payment of non-refundable fee of INR 25,00,000 (Rupees Twenty-Five Lakhs Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. The procedure to procure the ITT documents is enlisted in Annexure A to this document. The ITT will be available for purchase till May 10, 2022," the BCCI said.

Star, Sony Pictures Networks India, Amazon Prime Video and Reliance-backed Viacom18 are a couple of names that will be in the race to win the IPL 2023-2027 media rights.&nbsp;The current media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) are with the Star India network. Star paid INR 16,347.50 crores to win the media rights of the lucrative T20 tournament back in 2017.



According to market experts, a windfall of anywhere over INR 40,000 Crores (over $5 Billion) is expected as the BCCI confirm the sale of the IPL media rights.

INR 33,000 Crores set as the base price for IPL 2023- 27 media rights: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is anticipating a massive windfall as it sets the base price for the next cycle of Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights close to INR 33,000 Crores. The ongoing cycle of the IPL media rights, which are with Star India, will end with the completion of the Tata IPL 2022.



The Invitation to Tender (ITT) document has already been rolled out by the Indian cricket board which is available for purchase at a fee of INR 25 Lakhs, non-refundable, plus any applicable taxes.?



With the Indian Premier League (IPL) being a ten-team affair and a total of 74 matches are being held, the invitation document is being rolled out in four different bundles.



Notably, the BCCI has reserved the option of increasing the total number of matches in the future, however, the currently offered bundle is according to the ten teams and 74 matches.

<h2>IPL Media Rights Bundles:</h2>



Bundle 1 - The first bundle or Bundle A will be for the Indian subcontinent region. The television rights of the Indian subcontinent are at a base price of INR 49 Crore per match for the next five years, which takes the total calculation to INR 18,130 Crores in five years.



Bundle 2 - The second Bundle or Bundle B is a digital rights bundle. The base price per game here will be INR 33 crore per game which takes the calculation up to INR 12,210 crores in the five years span.



Bundle 3 - The Bundle C which is termed the special package, which comprises of a total 18 IPL matches, is priced at INR 16 crores per game. The total calculation here, in the five year time, adds up to INR 1440 Crores. Bundle C 18 matches will include the opening, final games, 4 playoffs and the night matches of the doubleheaders.



Bundle 4 - The final bundle is for the players outside the Indian subcontinent which is priced at INR 3 Crores a game. The total of this bundle goes up to INR 1110 crores. The winning player of his bundle will have both television and digital rights for the IPL matches in the rest of the world.

IPL 2023-27 Media Rights, Amazon Pulls Out, race between Viacom, Sony, Star, Voot: The most anticipated duel between Jeff Bezos? Amazon and Mukesh Ambani?s Reliance for the acquisition of the IPL 2023-27 media rights for the next five-year cycle couldn?t start as the former party decided not to show up for the Technical evaluation round held by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday. Amazon, which was expected to bid aggressively for the world?s best cricket league?s media rights, has already backed out of the contest after purchasing the Invitation to Tender (ITT) document.



If the reports are to be believed, Amazon hasn?t revealed the actual reason for pulling out of the bidding contest for the digital space.&nbsp;



Meanwhile, Reliance-backed Viacom 18 is considered one of the toughest contenders for both digital and TV rights along with Star, Sony and Voot.&nbsp;



"Yes, Amazon is out of the race. They didn't join the technical bidding process today. As far as Google (YouTube) is concerned, they had picked up the bid document but didn't submit it. As of now, 10 companies (TV and streaming) are in fray," a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

<h2>IPL 2023-27 Media Rights - Four-way battle:</h2>



The BCCI has released four specific packages for the IPL 2023-27 media rights (digital and TV) for the next five years. The first package includes exclusive TV broadcasting rights in the sub-continent region while the second package will have the digital rights for the sub-continent region.



Package three will cover 18 selected matches of the tournament for digital space while the last package will have all games (digital and TV) for the overseas audiences.



As per the BCCI, 74 matches will be held in the first two IPL seasons of the cycle, the number will be elevated to 84 in the next two seasons and the total matches will go up to 94 in the last season of the IPL 2023-27 cycle.



"Let's make it clear, the Viacom 18 JV (Joint Venture), current rights holder Walt Disney (Star), Zee and Sony are the four contenders for the packages with solid footprints in both TV and digital market," the official said.



The bidding for the TV and digital rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on Sunday and Monday, 12 &amp; 13 June 2022. The rights will be valid for next five years period from 2023-2027.

The actual price for the IPL 2023-27 media rights is marked at INR 44,075 Crores as per the sources who are in the know of the development.



The world?s lucrative cricket league has shattered all its past records as the media rights value swells over forty thousand crores on day two. The IPL is now only second to America?s NFL in terms of media rights. Media rights of the NFL are valued at INR 136 crores per match.



As per the latest information, the TV rights (Package A) is sold at INR 23,575 Crores which will draw Rs 57.5 Crores per match while the Digital Rights (Package B) has been sold for INR 20,500 Crores which makes Rs 50 Crores per match. Both the packages were for the Indian subcontinent region for complete IPL matches in the next five years.



The details of the winners of the media rights in each package are yet to be revealed by the BCCI, however, it can be confirmed that the total value per match of the IPL is Rs 107.5 crore (TV + Digital).

The media rights value of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has grown over 2.5 times than what Star paid the BCCI back in 2017 for the five years.&nbsp;



Even though the BCCI hasn?t confirmed the details of the winners, several news outlets have reported that Disney Star has won the TV rights while Viacom 18 has bagged the digital rights.



The bidding for the two other packages (C&amp;D) will spill to day three, confirm the BCCI on Monday. Package C contains 18 specific matches in each IPL season while Package D will have all TV and digital matches for the overseas audience.

Women's IPL Media Rights: On January 16, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Viacom18 had secured the closed-bid auction for the media rights to the forthcoming Women's Indian Premier League (WIPL) for Rs 951 crore for five years, besting rival bidders Disney+ Hotstar and Sony. The cricket board staged an auction for the T20 league on Monday in Mumbai.



Following the acquisition of IPL Media Rights, Viacom18 has also acquired Women's IPL Media Rights. This indicates that throughout the course of the next five years, the broadcaster will pay the BCCI a value of INR 7.09 crores per match (2023-27). The development signifies an important advancement for women's cricket. Later, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, verified the fact.

The price per match for the 2023?27 cycle of the Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights sale was a breathtaking INR 57.40 crore, and Viacom18 won the media rights auction for the 2023-2027 seasons for 107.5 Cr INR per match. The Pakistan Super League (PSL), on the other hand, only hit INR 2.76 crore for the 2022?23 cycle, to put things in context. Women's IPL is going to hit INR 7.09 crore per match for the next five years.
