Players Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might release ahead of IPL 2023: The Sun group backed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) endured one more disappointing season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). From being one of the favourites to confirm the playoff place to languishing in the eighth position in the <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-nz-updated-wtc-points-table-following-new-zealands-historic-series-whitewash-over-india/" title="points table" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">points table</a> at the end of the Tata IPL 2022 league phase, SRH saw an unjustified collapse.



SRH began their Tata IPL 2022 campaign on a poor note with two consecutive losses initially. However, the franchise picked its right playing xi in <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-sa-herschelle-gibbs-predicts-the-result-of-the-t20i-series-harsh-pill-to-swallow-as-an-indian-fan-before-the-third-t20-match-to-be-played-today/" title="the third" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the third</a> game itself and started climbing up in the points table with victories on the trot. SRH notched up five wins from the next five matches and became a team to beat in the tournament.



But, it was too soon for everyone to judge the difficulties of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Suddenly SRH lost track <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/qualification-scenario-of-india-for-the-wtc-2023-25-final-after-the-historic-test-series-lost-against-new-zealand/" title="after the" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">after the</a> seventh match and began losing games on the trot. Their five matches winning streak converted to a five-match losing streak and the franchise found itself once again amidst a horrible mash.



The 2016 IPL champions could only manage to win six matches in 14 league stage matches of the Tata IPL 2022 and finished eighth in the league stage.



Despite losing matches on the trot, a few players kept performing consistently throughout the tournament while a few players had a disappointing season as they couldn?t justify their role and price tag.

<h3>Kane Williamson:</h3>

Though this name comes with several feelings and emotions, we must admit Kane Williamson hasn?t done justice to his role in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).?



The SRH skipper only managed to score 216 runs from 13 matches in the Tata IPL 2022 at a poor average of 19.64. He looked like a pale shadow of himself in the tournament which required fantastic efforts from the skipper.



SRH bagged the services of Kane Williamson ahead of the Tata IPL 2022 by spending a whopping sum of INR 14 Crores. The franchise can release him from the squad and then subsequently purchase him at a much lower price in the auctions.



<h3>Glenn Phillips:</h3>

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) didn?t use the services of Glenn Phillips even once in the entire Tata IPL 2022. The kiwi middle-order batter was unavailable for the initial few matches from the tournament due to Covid related issues.



Notably, Phillips has played three matches in the IPL before for Rajasthan Royals where he managed to amass just 20 runs at a dismal average of 13.



It would be impossible for SRH to fit in Glenn Phillips in the playing xi whilst the presence of Kane Williamson, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran and Marco Jansen. The four mentioned players have been a regular feature for SRH in the IPL 2022.



Due to the upper cap placed in the selection of overseas players, SRH won?t be able to fit Glenn Phillips in the playing xi.

Jos Buttler has scored 95 runs and played another Phenomenal inning by him after a long time. Sanju Samson knocked 66 runs with a strike rate of 173.68. Yuzvendra Chahal has taken four wickets.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Glenn Philips gave SRH a win:</h2>



In the Second Inning, Anmolpreet Singh <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/srh-are-likely-to-retain-the-trio-of-cummins-klaasen-and-abhishek-sharma-for-ipl-2025/" title="and Abhishek Sharma" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">and Abhishek Sharma</a> gave a good start to the SRH. Anmolpreet has scored 33 runs in 25 balls. Abhishek Sharma played an impressive inning as the sixes he knocked were Sensational. Abhishek has scored 55 runs with a strike rate of 161.76. He hit five fours and two sixes. 



Rahul Tripathi shows good intent and tries to stay on the pitch and move the game further, and he knocks three sixes. Heinrich Klaasen and Glenn Philips played an impactful inning, especially Glenn Philps, who knocked three consecutive sixes and scored 25 runs in just seven balls. Abdul Samad finished the inning and successfully made 16 runs in the last over.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yuzvendra Chahal's four Wicket Haul:</h2>

Yuzvendra Chahal has taken four wickets at an economy rate of 7.25. A good bowling by Chahal, but others didn't support him from the other end. Kulip and R. Ashwin took one wicket each. Murugan Ashwin, who gave 42 runs in just three overs, He had a very expensive spell.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Buttler's Great Comeback:</h2>



In the First Inning, Yashasvi and Buttler opened for Rajasthan and made a small partnership of 54 runs. Yashasvi again didn't play a big knock and scored only 35 runs with five fours and two sixes. 



Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson built a good partnership in the middle overs and played some really good shots, especially Buttler, who was hitting the shots in the gaps and properly tried to utilize the pace of the ball. 



They made 138 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Sanju has scored 66 runs with a strike rate of 173.48. Jos Buttler played a sensational inning and scored 95 runs in 59 balls with ten fours and four sixes.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A worst by SRH bowlers:</h2>



SRH bowlers gave their worst performance of this season as they didn't break the partnership between Buttler and Samson and also gave lots of runs. Marco Jansen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one wicket each, but both gave 44 runs in their four-over spell.

Gill, faced the heat of criticism due to his compromised performances and a patch of weak form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as India lost the test series to Australia 3-1. Gill had troubles in limited-overs cricket ever since the 2023 ODI World Cup, and as a result of this, he was also snubbed from <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/bangladesh-announce-squad-for-the-t20-world-cup-2026/" title="the T20 World Cup" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the T20 World Cup</a> squad in 2024. 
Gill, after a humiliating year of underperforming cricket, returned with promising form in the India vs England home series. Shubman Gill starred in the three ODI matches and scored two stunning fifties early on, then came back with a great hundred in the final game in Ahmedabad. 
Gill also scored his first ICC hundred in this edition of the Champions Trophy in the debut match against Bangladesh. Shubman’s strong pursuit makes him one of the leading contenders for the ICC award.

Be it Smith’s great form against Sri Lanka in the test series, where he backed himself with back-to-back hundreds, or a stunning 73 to rescue Australia in the semi-final against India. 
Smith also completed 10,000 runs in the test format and hence is a deserving debut for the month.
The next man on our list is the flying Kiwi, often regarded as one of the greatest fielders in the modern-day game. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Phillips_(cricketer)" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Glenn Phillips</a> has been extraordinary on the field for New Zealand in the 2025 Champions Trophy, and his spirit on the field has not only raised the morale of his side but also troubled the opposition. 
Alongside his efforts on the field, he has been a stunning batter at times for the Kiwis, also scoring his maiden ODI hundred against Pakistan in the tri-series. Phillips has also helped the Kiwis score quick runs towards the end of the inning and come in handy at times with his off-spin. Glenn Phillips is the all-round package, who is the last nominee on the list of ICC Player of the Month nominees.
