Just like several other teams, the mighty Aussies are also looking to consolidate their hold on the format with several new players who are replacing the likes of the veterans, who were a part of Australia?s World Cup-winning squad in 2023. First among them and probably the greatest would be David Warner, the veteran who has been a huge slave to Australian cricket and retired from all formats of the game recently after the end of the T20 World Cup. Warner was seen opening alongside Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh in the last World Cup; however, the Aussies will be in the quest for a batter to replace him in the role.

Veteran pacers Josh Hazelwood, Mitchell Starc, and all-rounders Glenn Maxwell, as well as veteran batter Steven Smith, are all either too old or lacking in form. Considering Travis Head?s unstoppable form for over 2 years now, he remains Australia?s constant surprise across all formats of the game, and so will he be seen against England in the ODIs. Though the likes of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have been picked for the ODIs, Team Australia would undoubtedly look to bring out some of their experiments, including players like Cameron Green and Josh Inglis in the role. With Marcus Stoinis set to miss the England tour, several Aussie players have been looking to land themselves in the role, with the biggest contenders among them being Cam Green as well as Aaron Hardie. Legendary English all-rounder Moeen Ali has finally drawn curtains to his illustrious international career for England. This is now official as the player with two World Cup titles has ended his days for the Three Lions. Moeen has represented the English side for a decade now since he marked his debut back in 2014 when he was primarily seen as a player of the longest format of the game. Ali was one of England?s frontline spinners after <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graeme_Swann">Graeme Swann</a> and Monty Panesar retired internationally from tests. However, Ali soon introduced himself as a world-class all-rounder and his aggressive nature. He was then brought in by Captain Morgan to the limited-overs cricket, where he emerged as England?s second all-rounder option alongside Ben Stokes. Ali was a part of England?s World Cup-winning team in 2019, their first ever in the history of cricket. England National Cricket Team skipper Jos Buttler has stepped down as the captain of the white-ball team. This comes after his poor performances as captain in the ongoing 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, where the Three Lions faced a group-stage exit. 
England National Cricket Team was eliminated from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy after they suffered a disappointing defeat against the Afghanistan National Cricket Team. This was their second consecutive loss in the ODIs, having faced a poor defeat against Australia in their tournament opener. 
After England got eliminated from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, skipper Jos Buttler faced a lot of criticism. The keeper-batter has been having a torrid time as a leader as even before the tournament, his team were at the receiving end of thrashing against India and England in T20Is. 
Jos Buttler will be leading the England National Cricket Team for the one final time in the game against South Africa in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The match between the teams will be taking place at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday (28th February).

Jos Buttler made the decision public during the press conference ahead of the game against South Africa. He believes that it was the right time for him to step down as the captain and an opportunity for someone else to take the team forward along with coach Brendon McCullum. Speaking about his decision, he said: 
"Just to let you all know, I'm going to stand down as England captain. It's the right decision for me, it's the right decision for the team and hopefully somebody else who can come in and work closely alongside Baz to take the team back to where it needs to be. 
I think it's quite clear that this tournament was going to be important results-wise for my captaincy and obviously two losses and being out of the tournament with a bit of a hangover from some tournaments before, I think I just probably reached the end of the road for me and my captaincy, which is a shame." 
Jos Buttler guided England to the win in the <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/icc-t20-world-cup-2026-full-squads-of-all-the-participating-teams/" title="ICC T20 World Cup" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">ICC T20 World Cup</a> 2022. However, after that, the Three Lions faced a group stage exit in the ICC World Cup 2023, lost in the semi-final against India in the T20 World Cup 2024 and again group stage exit in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

England National Cricket Team has announced the <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/ind-vs-nz-new-zealand-squad-for-the-t20i-and-odi-series-against-india-announced-/" title="squad for the" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">squad for the</a> upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies National Cricket Team. Harry Brook, who was recently announced as the skipper, will be leading the team in both series. 
The England vs West Indies will begin with the three-match ODI series. The first game will be played on 29th May at Edgbaston, followed by <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/icc-women-s-world-cup-2025-points-table-south-africa-becomes-the-second-team-to-qualify-for-the-semi-final-/" title="the second" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">the second</a> match to be played at Sophie Gardens on 1st June. The third and final game will be played at the Oval on 3rd June. 
After that, the T20I series is all set to be played from 6th June at Riverside Ground. The second match will be played at County Ground, Bristol, on 8th June, followed by the last match, slated to take place on 10th June at Rose Bowl. 
This will be the first assignment for Harry Brook after being appointed as the full-time skipper of England. The young batter would want to start the stint on high and win both the series and mark the new chapter in English Cricket. 
Liam Dawson has been named in the T20I team for the first time since 2022. All-rounder Will Jacks will also be making his comeback for England. He has been named in both the squads after his impressive performances in the IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians. 
Phil Salt has been dropped from the ODI squad but has retained his place in T20I. Also, Luke Wood has been named in the team for the shortest format of the game. Liam Livingstone also has been dropped from the side.

The England vs New Zealand T20I Series 2025 is set to begin in New Zealand, with a three-match T20I series. Both teams will be playing this series to test their bench strength before the ICC Men's T20I World Cup 2026. It's going to be quite interesting to see New Zealand play against England and their bazball in a bilateral series.
New Zealand will have an added advantage as they will be playing on their home conditions, but on the other hand, England is also known for their explosive batting, and they have a good batting unit. So, it's going to be a good contest between the New Zealand National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team.
