Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Krunal Pandya led Baroda team suffered a major blow as vis-captain Deepak Hooda pulls out of the tournament after an alleged argument with the skipper. The incident took place a day before Baroda’s opening match in the tournament after a verbal spat with the captain.
Hooda wrote a letter to the Baroda cricket association and management on Saturday and called Krunal’s behaviour as a “Dadagiri”.
The senior batsman of Baroda who featured in 46 first-class games and 123 T20Is for his side said in the letter that his captain used abusive behaviour with him.
“I have been part of the cricket for the last 11 years for Baroda Cricket Association. Right now, I am chosen for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. I am depressed, demoralised and under pressure. As from last few days, at least from the last couple of days, my team captain Mr Krunal Pandya is using abusive language to me in front of my teammates and also other states team who have come to do match practice in Reliance Stadium Vadodara,” Deepak Hooda wrote in the letter.
As per the reports, it is learnt that both the senior players of the side involved in a heated statement while doing net practice. After which Hooda claimed taht Pandya abused, and allegedly threatened him.
“Today I was practising in nets and doing my preparation for tomorrow’s game with the permission of my head coach Mr Prabhakar. Then my skipper came to the nets and started misbehaving with me. I firmly told him that I have come to do practice after the permission of our head coach. He forcefully stopped me from further practising and said Who is the head coach? I am the captain and I am the one for the team. This behaviour of his is not tolerated at all,” Hooda added.
After the incident, Hooda left the team’s bio-secure bubble, pulling out of the whole tournament. This is the huge blow for the side as Hooda has been a phenomenal player for them.
The cricketer has good records with the team till date. After the incident, it is clear that BCCI will surely make a check on the issue.
