India batter Suryakumar Yadav is likely to miss a few games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. As per the reports in the Times of India (TOI), it is learned that the batter will be undergoing Hernia surgery and is likely to take time to recover.
The reports claimed that Suryakumar Yadav will be taking 8-9 weeks to recover and might miss a few games in the IPL. This will be a huge blow for the Mumbai Indians, considering the kind of impact hs has had in the league for the last few years.
Suryakumar also wasn’t selected in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan due to the injury. The series will be played from 11th January followed by the second and third matches to be played on 14th and 17th January.
In the absence of Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made a return to the team. The duo will be playing after 14 long months and it could be an indication that they will be part of the team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Suryakumar Yadav got injured during the recently concluded T20I series against South Africa. The batter twisted his ankle and then was seen wearing a strap on his feet. He was captain of the team during the series and under him India drew the series.
Suryakumar Yadav has been the best batter in the T20Is for India. He would be crucial for the team going into the World Cup. He’s currently the No.1 ranked batter in the format and also has been nominated for the T20 Cricketer of the Year award.

The upcoming India vs Afghanistan series will be the last that the team will be playing ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Therefore IPL will be the platform that will mark the return of Suryakumar Yadav into competitive cricket.
