Shreyas Iyer comeback date announced

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Times of India, it is learned that Shreyas Iyer is all set to make his comeback soon at international level. The premier batter underwent his first batting session after injury on Wednesday, December 24.

The reports claimed that Shreyas Iyer will be now heading to BCCI’s COE in Bengaluru to regain his match fitness. The Indian ODI vice-captain batted for an hour without any discomfort and is rehab is right on the track.

Shreyas Iyer faced a spleen injury during the third ODI against Australia. He attempted to take a catch of Alex Carey and feel badly, which resulted in internal bleeding. He was rushed to the ICU with his parameters being down. Then was there for seven days before he came back home.

The reports claimed that Shreyas Iyer’s comeback date is still not confirmed. But he is targeting last phase of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 to make a comeback. It is learned that he is likely to spend "four to six" days at the Cot in Bengaluru and is likely to get clarity on the timelines during this period.

Speaking to the Times of India, a source close to the developments said that there are no red flags there at the moment but all depends on the CoE assessment. He also stressed that the batter won’t be rushed back.

"He is already back to regular training in the gym. So no red flags there at the moment but all depends on the CoE assessment. He will be there for anywhere between four to six days. Like with every player, he won't be rushed back but efforts will be directed towards his speedy return," he said: 

Indian Cricket Team’s next ODI series is against New Zealand  from January 11 and the squad for the series is likely to be announced early in January - around 2nd or 3rd. There are chances that he might play as his case remains touch and go.
