This has made many wonder about the qualification scenario of RCB if the game against CSK will be a rain-curtailed game. If the RCB vs CSK game ends in a washout then Chennai Super Kings will be advancing to the playoffs because they will be ending up with 15 points.

However, if it’s a 15-over match and RCB ends up scoring 190, they need to restrict the opposition to 172. Even in the case of CSK scoring 190, they will have to chase the target in 13.1 overs. If it’s a 10-over game and RCB scores 140, they need to restrict CSK to 122 or chase the target in 8.1 overs.

Here’s the RCB qualification scenario in a rain-curtailed match (approx 1st innings score):

15 overs match – (190) restrict to 172 or chase in 13.1 overs.

10 overs match – (140) restrict to 122 or chase in 8.1 overs.

5 overs match – (90) restrict to 72 or chase in 3.1 overs.
