6:37 pm IST: Amit Mishra is passed.

6:36 pm IST: Yuzvendra Chahal is sold to the Rajasthan Royals for 6.5 Crores.

Mumbai and Delhi start bidding. Yuzi is in the prime of his form. He is a national team regular. Mumbai do not have a leg spinner, Yuzi can fill that void. SRH have joined the race as well at 5.25 Crores. Rajasthan Royals are also in contention. Royals are in full swing and adamant to get the best leg spinner of India. A steal by the RR management.

4:56 pm IST: Nicholas Pooran is sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 10.75 Crores!

Sunrisers and Hyderabad join the race. 5 Cr bid by Chennai. Sunrisers Hyderabad bid 5.25 Crores. Kolkata Knight Riders join in as well. 9.25 Cr bid again by Hyderabad. Nicholas is a good finisher. Hyderabad looking to solve their middle order vows. 10.5 Crores bid by KKR. But KKR have only 20 Crores left and many spots to fill. Jaw dropping pick by SRH!

Jonny, the dynamic wicket keeper from England comes in next. SRH are bidding strongly. Punjab Kings are also looking for a keeper and bidding strongly. Nicholas Pooran is yet to come. 6.75 Crore bid by Punjab Kings. Hyderabad ask for time.

4:31 pm IST: Ishan Kishan sold to Mumbai Indians for 15.25 Crores!

Ishan, the swashbuckling batter and wicketkeeper is here. Punjab Kings are going after him and so are Mumbai Indians. Mumbai look adamant to get him. It can be seen on the face of Aakash Ambani. 7.75 Cr bid by Mumbai Indians. Gujarat Titans are in too. Mumbai have never bid higher than 10 Cr for any player. They are willing to go for 14 Crore. Mitchell Marsh holds interest of many teams. DC and SRH are top bidders. ICS also has predicted Mitchell Marsh to be one of the top all-rounders. Marsh has improved his batting four folds.

Mr. Brijesh Patel addressed the meeting. He welcomes, Sourav Ganguly, President of BCCI, and Honorary Secretary Jay Shah, Mr. Rajeev Shukla. The number of players is announced. A total of 590 players are available. He thanks the BCCI medical team for delivering a good tournament, the IPL 2021. Two new franchises are welcomed. Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans. Star TV Network is also addressed for giving an amazing fan experience. TATA and Swiggy Instamart are welcomed as sponsors.

We tried to retain Indians as Indians will be at the premium price, due to the formation of the league. Delhi believes in our players and our strong core. We will be looking to build around them.”

The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is set to begin today (12th of February, 2022) at 11:00 am. All the teams will be looking to grab the payers on their radar. The likes of Shreyas Iyer and David Warner are expected to go for the big bucks. Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders are the two teams looking for captaincy options. Both the teams will try all out to grab at least 3 of the marquee players.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on the other hand are two teams that have always done well at the auction. These teams do not spend a lot but make sure that they make steals of great players. Last time Mumbai picked Chris Lynn for 2 Crores. Trent Boult too in the 2020 IPL AUction was stolen by Mumbai. Similarly, Chennai does not break the bank.
Some eyes will also be on the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. Both the teams are entering the auction with a big purse. The Punjab Kings are known for spending big bucks on Australian players. On the other hand, SRH will go by strategic planning.
