Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021: Team India’s head coach, Ravi Shastri puts forward a request in front of BCCI to provide a break to the Indian players after the IPL 2021. The Indian head coach, unofficially told that it sometimes becomes hectic to be inside the bio-bubble and the players need some time off.

India resumed its cricket operations with the Indian Premier League 2020. Although the tournament was shifted to UAE, players have been in constant cricket since then.

Right after the thirteenth edition of Indian Premier League ended, the Indian contingent flew to Australia for a long tedious three format series. A few days after the Australia series, the players had to get into the bubble for the England series which is also gonna be three formats. Even after the England series, Indian players after a couple of days off will head for the prep of IPL 2021.

While there is sufficient time of two weeks for the relaxing, however, the time consumed inside the quarantine period is getting hectic for the players.

Players need a break at some point of time: Ravi Shastri

Head Coach while speaking to Star Sports, feels that the process every day is getting taxing for the cricketers and they certainly will need days off after three months IPL.

“I do believe you need a break from international cricket at some point. After the England series, yes they go into the IPL. Again after the IPL, a couple of weeks off is a must. Because in these quarantines, in these bubbles, it is mentally draining. You are a human, at the end of it all,” Shastri told Star Sports, the broadcaster of India vs England series.

As per the schedule, the last game between India and England will be on 28th March and players will get roughly two weeks off. The fourteenth edition of IPL is expected to commence from 11th April.

The long three months tournament will also quarantine rules and hence few days will cut off there. Also, the players will only get time after IPL final which will be in June first week. So the schedule for India will be tiring.

The coming series after the IPL is important as these are going to be World Test Championship and ICC T20 World Cup. As per the reports, India could opt out of the Asia Cup due to busy schedule.
