IPL 2021 News & Updates: Glenn Maxwell is not worth 10 crores in IPL 2021 says Scott Styris.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 News & Updates: Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris takes a dig at IPL franchise paying Glenn Maxwell 10 crores. Styris made a bold statement for the Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell ahead of IPL 2021 mini-auctions.

Maxwell who earned whopping 10.75 crores in IPL 2020 from Kings XI Punjab has been released by the franchise ahead of IPL 2021. The all-rounder amassed mere 108 runs in the 13 games for Kings XI Punjab in 2020 season of IPL. The purchase of the Aussie hard-hitter turned out to be a disaster.

Former New Zealand all-rounder said, the performance of the Glenn Maxwell in last 5 or 6 IPL seasons has been disappointing and he does not deserve that high bid in IPL. Styris also added that it was best to get the service of the 32-year-old at his base price.

Anybody paying 10 crores to Maxwell has got rock in their head: Scott Styris

“The answer is if anybody pays anything close to that sort of 10-crore mark, they have got rocks in their head. It is that simple. We all know how good a player he is, and that is not the question. The talent is there, but the talent has outweighed the actual performances we have seen from Glenn Maxwell,” Scott Styris said on Star Sports Network.

“After watching his performance in a previous couple of seasons, he surely does not deserve such an amount. You hope you are striking the ball nicely and in good touch. After some time, somehow he manages to lose his form and turns out to be one of the biggest disappointment in the last five or six seasons of the cash-rich league.”

Styris further says that the opportunity must be given to other youngsters.

It will be interesting to watch, who picks Glenn Maxwell in the IPL 2021 mini-auctions. There can be some franchise who might be interested in the services of the all-rounder.

The IPL 2021 mini-auctions are predicted to take place somewhere in mid-february. However, the actual date is not out yet.
