India vs Australia ODI: Star Australian all-rounder ruled out of India ODIs; Marnus Labuschagne recalled after Domestic dominance

Cameron Green's attempt to resume bowling ahead of the upcoming Ashes has been halted, as he has also been ruled out of the ODI series against India. Marnus Labuschagne has been recalled since the South Africa ODIs, following his stupendous show in the domestic season. 

The India vs Australia ODI series will be India's first ODI series since they won the ICC Champions Trophy back in February; however, the Aussies have been constantly playing the format. They also hosted South Africa for a 3-match series a month ago. The series begins on Sunday, October 19th, at Optus Stadium in Perth. 

However, Cameron Green's exclusion is the third time Australia has been forced to make a change to their squad ahead of the series opener against India. Previously, Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa had already been ruled out and replaced by Josh Philippe and Matt Kuhnemann. 

Marnus Labuschagne replaces injured Cameron Green for India vs Australia ODIs

Undoubtedly one of the most technically sound batters in the Australian side, Labuschagne has been snubbed from all formats of the game by the Australian side. This came after repeated failures in the ODI series against South Africa, where he failed to be promising with the bat, dismissed for just one run on both occasions. 

However, coming fresh from his fourth century in the domestic season, two of which came in the white-ball format against Victoria and Tasmania, Labuschagne has been drafted back into the Australia squad. He is also in line for an Ashes call-up after some splendid innings at Adelaide, playing for Queensland against South Australia. 

Labuschagne is expected to be drafted straight into the playing XI, and especially with the absence of Steve Smith, a player of his calibre would be much needed. 

Matt Renshaw to make his debut, replacing an injured Green 

Green hit a major high in his career recently after the Aussies had promoted him to no. 3 across all formats of the game since his return to cricket. Green, too, has grasped the opportunity in some style; however, his bowling prowess is yet to be tested. 

With a new bump to his dream to return as a full bowling all-rounder ahead of the Ashes, he has been snubbed from the three-match ODI series owing to side soreness. However, this has also been learned that the absence is only precautionary, due to his significance for the upcoming Ashes. 

In his absence, the no. 4 spot can be handed to Matt Renshaw to mark his ODI debut for the Aussies. The batter has had an unimaginable domestic record, averaging over 50 and striking at over a run-a-ball in the past four domestic one-day seasons.
