IND vs WI: Sanju Samson set to make a comeback in the ODIs and T20Is for West Indies tour - Reports  3

With all the talks about selection for the West Indies tour, it is learned as per the reports in Cricbuzz that wicket-keeper Sanju Samson is all set to make a comeback into the team in both ODI as well as the T20I squad.

Sanju Samson has been in and out of the team for a while and hasn’t been a regular in the Indian squad. But with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant being injured, it’ll be a great opportunity for him to lock his spot in the team and make his case strong for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Sanju Samson has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and the IPL. But despite performing well, he hasn’t got the desired opportunities. But in whatever games he has played for India, he has been exceptional and it is expected that something special will be on the offer when he returns to the team.

Since 2022, Sanju Samson averages 36.8 along with a 154.62 strike rate in the T20Is whereas, in ODIs, the keeper batter averages 71 to go with a 105.58 strike rate. He was decent in the IPL 2023 as well. The squad for the West Indies tour is likely to be announced soon and it remains to be seen if Sanju Samson makes the cut into the team or not.

The reports also suggested that Cheteshwar Pujara’s place on the Test side is under doubt as his form has been quite concerning. He has been a great contributor to Indian cricket in Tests but his performances in the recent past aren’t good. He failed miserably in the WTC Final, which was one of the main reasons behind India’s loss.

It is learned that Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to be selected in his place. The southpaw has performed exceptionally well in the domestic circuit and if he get in the team in place of Pujara, it can be handy for them as they can have a left-hander in the top 3 to negate swing.
