IND vs WI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies, which is slated to take place from 4th August to 13th August. The governing body followed the same template as they have been doing after the T20 World Cup 2022.

The senior players are not part of the team and the squad will be captained by Hardik Pandya. There were quite a few fresh faces in the team but what was noticeable was Rinku Singh along with Ruturaj Gaikwad didn’t make it into the squad, with Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal getting the nod ahead of them.

Rinku Singh was at his absolute best in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). He set the stage on fire with their impressive performances and took the league by storm. What was impressive was their fearless cricket which they showed and even in pressure situations, they held their nerves.

Rinku Singh hogged the headlines for hitting 5 sixes in 5 balls to win the game for his side against Gujarat Titans. He was the leading run-getter for KKR this year as he amassed 474 runs from 14 games.

Notably, he averaged 152.5 in the chases and it was expected that he would be there in the squad. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad too was sensational as he amassed close to 600 runs. But he too wasn’t named in the team.

IND vs WI: BCCI faced a lot of criticism for not selecting these two in the team as many fans and pundits feel that they deserved to be there the most. Now the reason behind them not getting a chance for the West Indies T20Is has been revealed.

As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that BCCI had already decided to give them a chance for the Ireland series rather than IND vs WI. Also, they are in contention to be part of the Asian games squad as the board might send a second-string squad to China. The Ireland series will begin on 18th August.
