IND vs WI: The Board Of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) recently named the squad for the Tests and the ODI series against West Indies. Both the squads had some fresh faces in them whereas seniors were dropped too to begin the transition phase in the team.

One of the notable names that was missing from the team was of pacer Mohammed Shami. The Bengal fast bowler was absent both in ODI as well as the Test squad. He has been the lynchpin of the Indian team in both formats and him not being there raised quite a few eyebrows.

Now the reason behind Mohammed Shami not being there has been revealed. As per the reports in Indian Express, it is learned that the fast bowler has requested the team management for the rest in the West Indies series as he needs to be fresh for the busy schedule from September.

Notably, India is slated to play two major events. The Asia Cup 2023 will be played in September whereas after that it’s time for the Cricket World Cup 2023. The mega event is slated to take place in India in the month of October and November. Mohammed Shami would be hoping to keep his legs fresh for the two events.
