In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Indian Express, it is learned that Shreyas Iyer will be missing the last three IND vs ENG games. The batter reportedly has complained about stiff back and groin pain. 

Shreyas Iyer experienced pain while playing the forward defence which has put his participation for the last three IND vs ENG games in jeopardy. 

The reports also claimed that the batter’s equipment was sent to his home in Mumbai whereas things of all the other players were sent to Rajkot, where the third match will be played. 

It is learned that Shreyas Iyer will be travelling to National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for further tests. A BCCI official confirmed about the development, saying that the batter will be advised to rest for a few weeks.

“Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defence. Post surgery, he is facing this issue for the first time so he has been advised to rest for a few weeks. He will head to NCA later,”

It is also learned that Shreyas Iyer will be fit by the time the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins. The batter recently underwent back surgery and made a comeback into the Indian team ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023. However, the back issue has yet again troubled him. 

With Shreyas Iyer likely to be ruled out of the IND vs ENG game, it is expected that KL Rahul will take the slot on the team. Management now would be hoping to give opportunities to Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan going into the last three games.

Virat Kohli is expected to miss the last three IND vs ENG games. The right-hander, who missed the first two games, hasn’t made himself available yet. The squad for the last three games will be announced on Friday (8th February). 

The reports in Indian Express suggested that although Virat Kohli will miss the last three IND vs ENG games but window will be open for him. Whenever he makes himself available, he will be drafted into the team.
