India has named a young team for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia. It’s fair to say that BCCI is trying to build a core team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. It’ll be interesting to see how young boys will fare against mighty Aussies.
Coming to the playing XI, it is expected that Ruturaj Gaikwad will open the innings for the team in the team in IND vs AUS game. He was part of the team in the Ireland series as well as the Asian games. He’s expected to open the innings alongside Ishan Kishan, who has been fantastic in the shortest format and was part of the World Cup squad.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is unlikely to play in the first IND vs AUS game as the team might rest him considering the keeper-batter’s availability. Suryakumar Yadav will be captaining the Indian side in the IND vs AUS series and is likely to bat at No.3. In the ODIs he has struggled to get going but one cannot point fingers at him in the T20 format.

Tilak Varma, who has developed himself into the backbone of the Indian team in T20Is in a short span of time, is likely to take the No.4 position in the IND vs AUS series. Rinku Singh along with Shivam Dube is expected to play the role of finisher in the team. They did the job terrifically well in the Ireland series.
Dube is also likely to chip in with the ball and support Axar Patel as all-rounder in the team. Patel will be making his team after an injury layoff. Ravi Bishnoi is expected to be the second spinner in the team whereas Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh are expected to be the three frontline pacers in the team.
