The ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers are all set to take place in June- July this year. The playoff round has been done and dusted and two teams USA and UAE are through to the main qualifiers. The ODI qualifiers will take place in June and July 2023 in Zimbabwe. Along with USA and UAE, West Indies, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Oman, Nepal and Ireland will play in the qualifiers.

ICC World Cup 2023: Netherlands name strong 15-member Squad for the Qualifiers

Netherlands has named the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers. Although some key names are missing from the squad, the balance of team seems pretty good and it’s fair to say that if they play to their potential they will be the favourites to win. 

The squad will be led by Scott Edwards whereas Roelof van der Merwe and Colin Ackermann are the two notables missing from the squad. They will miss the tournament due to their commitments with county teams. 

Max O’Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Teja Nidamanuru and Edwards with the players to watch out for with the bat, whereas Logan van Beek, Viv Kingma and Aryan Dutt handle the bowling department. 

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards talked about the squad and said that they have good firepower in the squad as players have had good domestic seasons. He said:

“Coming off the back of a three-game series in Zimbabwe a few months ago, we have been really intentional in our preparation for the qualifiers and we are confident the squad we have picked can play a brand of cricket that will be successful in these conditions. 

“We have a good mixture of experienced players along with some exciting young players who have performed well in the domestic Pro Series and club season leading into this tournament.”

ICC recently announced the schedule for the Qualifiers as well. Netherlands are placed in Group A for Zimbabwe and will begin their campaign against the USA on June 20th. After the opening fixtures, they will lock horns with Nepal and the West Indies.

The top two teams at the end of the Super Sixes then earn a place in the 50-over showcase at the end of the year.
