In what will be a historic moment for both West Indies and United Arab Emirates (UAE), the two teams for the first time in history will lock horns with each other in the bilateral series. They will play each other in the three-match series to prepare themselves for the ICC ODI Qualifiers.

Both sides failed to earn a direct qualification for the ICC World Cup 2023 and will now ply their trade in the qualifiers that will be played in Zimbabwe in June-July. One or two teams from that round will advance to the main tournament.

The series between UAE and West Indies will kick start from 5th June. The second game will be played on June 7th whereas the final match of the series is slated to tie place on the 9th game. All three games will be played in Sharjah.

West Indies legend and current director of cricket Jimmy Adams opened up the series against UAE. He said that it’s a great opportunity for their players to get under the groove ahead of the qualifiers. He said in a statement:

“This is our first-ever bilateral tour against the UAE and we are pleased to have agreed on to this historic three-match ODI Series as it will provide a good opportunity for our players to get some preparation ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. It will also allow those players not going to Zimbabwe to get some valuable experience at the international level in foreign conditions, which would be hugely beneficial to their growth and development. We are happy to work closely with the ECB to arrange the three matches and we see this as a partnership which can grow in the future.”
