Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje tested covid positive.

Vivo IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals (DC) and South African speedster Anrich Nortje has been tested covid positive. Nortje is under isolation after arriving in India from South Africa.

This is not the first instance when players have been affected by the deadly coronavirus. Before him, Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star opener Devdutt Padikkal also tested covid positive.

Apart from these cricketers, Mumbai Indians scout and Wicketkeeping consultant Kiran More, 10 grounds staff and six event managers of Wankhede Stadium had also tested covid positive earlier.

Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada flew to India after the first two ODI games against Pakistan. According to the reports, Kagiso Rabada is asymptomatic while his partner Nortje has been found covid-positive in the tests done by the IPL and BCCI managements.

The reports of the last test are awaited to be out on Wednesday.

“He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine,” reported ANI. According to the SOPs regulated by BCCI, any person with covid-19 symptoms will have to be separated from the rest of the squad and will undergo self-isolation in the designated place for at least 10 days.

Due to the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in India, the BCCI has ordered to conduct the covid tests on a daily basis. There will be a separate bio-bibble for the ground staffs and curators.
