Australia vs India 3rd ODI: Team India opened its account in the Australian tour as they defeated the hosts by 13 runs in the third and final ODI of the series. With the win in the final game, Men in Blues also added points to the World Cup Super League points table. However, the home team has bagged the series with 2-1.

Both the sides made some changes to the side. Virat Kohli made as many as four changes, T Natarajan replaced Mohd. Shami, Shardul Thakur replaced Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav replaced Yuzvendra Chahal and Shubman Gill came in place of Mayank Agarwal.

Aaron Finch called Aston Agar, Sean Abbott, Cameron Green in place of Warner, Starc, and Cummins in the final eleven.

India Innings:

Shikhar Dhawan once again put up a flop show, he departed in 6th over off the debutant Sean Abbott. While Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill took innings past 80 inside 14 overs. Gill was sent to the hut, attempting to sweep Aston Agar.

Shreyas Iyer (19 from 21 balls) and KL Rahul (5 off 11 balls) could not do much for the side as they went cheaply.

Virat Kohli completed his half-century and also completed his 12,000 runs in ODI Cricket. He becomes the fastest to reach the landmark.

Josh Hazlewood’s efforts sent Kohli (63 from 78) to the dugout with an angled ball which took the edge and went straight to the wicketkeeper.

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took the charge of the innings in the death overs. Both the all-rounders stitched a good 150 runs stand for the 6th wicket-taking the scoreboard to 302-5 in 20 overs.

Pandya returned after scoring 92 runs while Jadeja smashed 66 runs to the score.

Australian Innings:

In response to the below-par total in Manuka Oval’s surface, Australia could not manage to give a usual start. Marnus Labuschagne in place of injured Warner went cheaply off the debutant T. Natarajan. Australians missed the services of dashing opener David Warner in the third ODI.

While Shardul Thakur ended Smith’s century streak in 12 over. Moises Henriques (22 from 31) and Cameron Green (21 from 27) could not do much against India in the final ODI.

However, skipper Finch completed his third half-century in a trot after a few chances in the beginning. Finch departed scoring 75 runs in 82 deliveries off Ravindra Jadeja attempting to clear the fence.

In form, Glenn Maxwell gave some good shorts to Men in Blue after he smashed a quickfire 59 from 38 balls. Jasprit Bumrah who was wicketless till 44th over picked Maxwell with a well-executed toe crusher.

With the wicket of Maxwell, India took easy back-to-back wickets of tail-enders to end the losing streak and avoid a clean sweep.

Shardul Thakur for India returned with 3/51 in 10 overs while Bumrah and Natarajan got 2 each. Spinner also managed to pick one in their bag.
