PBKS played quite well in this match but they failed to finish the match and therefore, they lost their second match of the tournament. The Player of the match was Mayank Yadav, who took three wickets and gave only 27 runs in his four overs spell.



Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) played fantastic cricket in their 2nd match of TATA IPL 2024 however, the match was interesting between both the teams and it was almost neck-to neck for both the teams. But, When both the batters got out, PBKS again dominated the game but Krunal Pandya played an impressive and aggressive inning of 43 runs in 22 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 195.45. From the Punjab Kings bowling Department, Sam Curran took three wickets whereas Arshdeep Singh took two wickets.



While chasing the target, Punjab Kings started an aggressive start in the second inning as they scored 61 runs in the powerplay. Skipper Shikhar Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow made a huge partnership of 102 runs for the first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan scored 70 runs in 50 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes whereas Jonny Bairstow scored 42 runs in 29 balls with three sixes and three fours.



However, LSG bowlers dominated the game in the middle overs as they took a couple of wickets back-to-back at the start of the death overs. The home side sealed the fixture by 21 runs after scoring 199 runs and subsequently brought up its opening score in the IPL 2024 Points Table.



Punjab had the game in its grasp until skipper Shikhar Dhawan and his opening partner Jonny Bairstow were in the middle. But a superb delivery from debutant Mayank Yadav's rocket arm opened things up for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 12th over. Bairstow departed after scoring 42 runs in 29 deliveries at an overall score of 102 runs.



Bairstow's wicket made the opening for LSG and they were too quick to pounce on the opportunity. Soon Mayank Yadav dismissed Prabhsimran Singh as well and then Punjab's batting lineup fell like a house of cards. However, skipper Shikhar Dhawan was still in the middle.



Debutant Yadav turned the heat once again on with the wicket of Jitesh Sharma in the 16th over and PBKS were suddenly three wickets down at a score of 139 runs. In the very next over, Moshin Khan did the trick by dismissing well-set Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran.



Though Liam Livingstone was still in the middle, he couldn't do much with his wobbling leg and Punjab fell 21 runs short of the required target of 199 runs in 20 overs.
