Nice even covering of grass, very firm, and will play well for 100 overs. There should be some bounce and spinners may not be in the game. Wankhede is always a chasing ground, especially with the dimensions.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first. 



Hardik Pandya:?We'll bowl first. It is a good track and the dew factor will be there. We feel we will do well in the second innings. I got some time off, breaks are like gold dust for me so it gave me a chance to rest and improve. Playing for India every game and every format is important. With this being a WC year, the ODI format is important. We've gone with four quicks - Shardul, Shami, myself and Siraj. Two spinners in Jadeja and Kuldeep.



Steve Smith:?Good toss to lose. Happy batting first because I didn't know what to do. We got to try our best to adjust to these conditions, and get our combinations right with the WC in mind. I think we played well in the back end on the Border Gavaskar Trophy test series, and plenty of fresh faces to choose from.?Alex Carey is sick so he has gone home, so Josh Inglis will come in today. David Warner is not yet fully fit, so Mitch Marsh will open the batting.

Both teams were engaged in competitive cricket prior to this series. While Australia were on a tour of South Africa for three T20Is and as many as five ODIs, India played the Asia Cup. Australia lost the ODI series 3-2 and India lifted the Asia Cup Title.



Australia had squared off against South Africa in their last match, where Australia were bowled out for 193 and lost the match by 122 runs. However, Australia were not playing with full strength due to injury issues. With Pat Cummins and Smith being back in the side, Australia look much better and stronger side.



In their last encounter, India faced up against Sri Lanka, who won the toss and chose to bat. Siraj destroyed the Lankans' batting lineup in the Asia Cup final, making it a nightmare for them. He took six wickets, conceding only 21 runs, and knocked Sri Lanka out for a record-low 50 runs. The Indian team's strong batting order did not have any trouble reaching such a number. They completed the entire chase in just six overs and easily defeated their opponent by 10 wickets.
