Ravichandran Ashwin ends BBL career before debut

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the debut season in the Big Bash League after facing a serious knee injury, which ruled him out of the entire season.
After announcing his retirement from the IPL and freeing himself from the bondages with the BCCI, the legendary Indian spinner shared his news of exploring chances in overseas T20 leagues. The veteran star boasts a record of the second-most international wickets for India and is the 5th all-time highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL.
After going unsold in the ILT20 auction, he agreed to a full season in the BBL with the Sydney Thunder. The Australian fans welcomed the Indian legend wholeheartedly.
Ravichandran Ashwin faces a massive roadblock in his route to the BBL debut
Ravichandran Ashwin has been ruled out of the Big Bash League after he sustained a massive knee injury back in Chennai. Ashwin himself, in an unfortunate move, has informed all of his condition.
“I wanted to write this myself. While training in Chennai to prepare for the upcoming season, I hurt my knee. I've had a procedure, and the outcome means I will miss BBLI15. That is tough to say. I was genuinely excited to be part of this group and play in front of you,” informed Ashwin through Instagram.
“For now, it is rehab, recovery, and doing the work to come back stronger. From my first chat with the club, I have felt only warmth from Trent, the staff, the players, and so many of you who have already reached out. Thank you for making me feel at home before a ball has been bowled,” he added.
“I will be watching every game and cheering for both our women's and men's teams. If rehab and travel line up, and only if the doctors are happy, I would love to be around later in the season and say hello in person. No promises. That is the intent,” said Ashwin, affirming his Thunder fans of being by their side despite his absence from the field.
Injured Ashwin to be replaced by Robin Uthappa from the Indian team
Alongside the knee injury, he has been ruled out of the Hong Kong Sixes tournament as well. Indian former player and CSK former batter Robin Uthappa will be replacing him in the team.
“I’m really disappointed to miss out on the Hong Kong Sixes this year due to injury. I was looking forward to experiencing the tournament’s unique and energy. I wish the Indian team all the very best. I’m sure the boys will put on a great show and hopefully lift the trophy,” said Ravichandran Ashwin in an official release.
