Veteran Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who created records by taking a flurrry of wickets with his destructive bowling in the 2023 ODI World Cup, has achieved another big feat. The 34-year-old, who is playing his first ICC tournament since the World Cup, has completed 200 wicksts in One Day Cricket by three batters in India's very first Champions Trophy 2025 match versus Bangladesh in Dubai. With this, he has also become the fastest Indian bowler to achieve this feat.

He completed this accomplishment in his 104th One Day International match for the Men in Blue and he also became the joint second-quickest to reach this milestone. He became just the eighth Indian bowler to have dismissed batters 200 times in the ODI format.

The 34-year-old wasn't in the mood to stop as he went on to register a five-wicket haul versus the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladeshi team and celebrated the milestone by pointing both his arms raised towards the sky as his teammates surrounded him to join him in the celebrations. The 5th scalp was his 60th ODI wicket in an ICC tournament, the most by a bowler from India as he went past the tally of the legendary Zaheer Khan (59 wickets).

The former Gujarat Titans pacer had been out of action from International Cricket since the conclusion of the 2023 ODI World Cup until recently he made his comeback in the series versus England. In the absence of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, the task of leading the Indian bowling unit came on the shoulders of Shami in the Champions Trophy and he did it perfectly as he removed Soumya Sarkar in the very first over of the contest who was caught behind the stumps by wicketkeeper KL Rahul.

He struck again in the powerplay overs, dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz who knicked the ball straight into the hands of Shubman Gill standing at first slip. The 34-year-old's 200th wicket was the decisive one ae he got the better of Jaker Ali who hit the ball straight to Virat Kolhi standing near the boundary line and this was also the partnership braking scalp.

Tailender Tanzim Hasan Sakib was his fourth prey as he played the ball on to the stumps and he finished it off by sending Taskin Ahmed back to the pavillion in the death overs and this way, he completed his fifer.
