Indian batter Virat Kohli climbed up the ladder for the leading run-getter in Test cricket for Indian Cricket Team. He surpassed former opener Virender Sehwag to attain the 5th position in the list of high run-getter for India in the longest format of the game.

Virat Kohli achieved the feat in the ongoing first Test against West Indies at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. He got the opportunity to bat later on Day 2 as openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal batted superbly and smashed 229 opening partnership after India bundled out the opposition for 150 runs.

Virat Kohli, who has been struggling to find his form in the Tests, looked settled at the crease and was in full control. He took time to settle but when he got his feet going, he played some vibrant shots and put India in a more dominating position.

Virat Kohli scored unbeaten 36 runs in 96 balls and also smashed one four in his innings before umpires called stumps on Day 1. During his innings, he became the 5th highest run-getter in Tests as he surpassed Virender Sehwag’s tally of 8503.

Virat Kohli now has Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Rahul Dravid (13265), Sunil Gavaskar (10122), and VVS Laxman (8781) ahead of him. It’s fair to say that if he bats to his potential he can go past Laxman in this series as well. Also, he would be wanting to make full use of the opportunity and gain his full form.
