New Zealand levelled the three-match ODI series after their dominating performance in the second ODI. They thrashed the hosts by seven wickets at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Khandheri Rajkot on Wednesday. Asked to bat, India piled up a total of 284 for seven, which the Black Caps chased with over two overs to spare.

Indian openers in Shubman Gill (56) and Rohit Sharma (24 had a cautious start as New Zealand bowlers were spot on with the new ball. But, Rohit and Gill broke the shackles and once they had an eye in, they made the most of the power play, adding 70 runs for the opening stand. Rohit, just like the last match, threw his wicket away yet again after a start.

Gill carried on his form and hit his second half-century of the series. But India kept losing wickets in regular intervals with Virat Kohli (23) and Shreyas Iyer failing. The hero of the innings was KL Rahul (112*), who hit a superb hundred and took his team to a competitive total. He was supported well by Ravindra Jadeja (27*) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (20*) as India posted a total of 284 for seven.

IND vs NZ: Daryl Mitchell's fantastic ton seals game for New Zealand

Chasing the target, New Zealand lost both openers, Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls early. But the innings were resurrected by Will Young (87) and Daryl Mitchell (131*). The duo joined hands when the Black Caps were left at 46 for two and took the team to over 200 runs, adding 162 runs for the third wicket.

Both Young and Mitchell made India look clueless as New Zealand cruised their way to the target. While, Young fell 13 runs short of his hundred, Mitchell slammed a terrific century. Glenn Phillips (32*) played a supporting hand as his 78-run partnership with Mitchell took New Zealand home with seven wickets in hand.
