Will Rohit Sharma and Virat play the ICC World Cup 2027? Sourav Ganguly answers

Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly shared his take on the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2025. He said that it won't be easy for them to play the tournament, adding that they will soon move away from the game. 

Indian Cricket Team batters in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be playing only ODIs now and this no doubt leaves a massive void. The two players retired from the Tests and T20Is and expressed their desire to continue till the ICC World Cup 2027. 

To play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, it will be extremely challenging for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as India are not scheduled to play many ODIs. Hence, to keep themselves fit and going, they need to put in hard yards. Also, there is a lot of competition around, so they need to be on top with their performances.

Talking about the same, Sourav Ganguly said that both will walk away from the game, but it won't he easy for them to play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Speaking to PTI, he said: 

"All of us must understand, just like everyone, the game will go away from them, and they will go away from the game. It won't be easy, with 15 games a year," he added. 

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be key to India if they feature in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. The two have been doing the bulk of scoring for the last two decades and would want to end their career on a high with the trophy in their cabinet.
