Shubman Gill becomes only the fifth Indian batter to achieve this massive feat after being named as the Test captain

Indian Cricket Team batter Shubman Gill achieved a massive feat in the history of test cricket. He became only the fifth batter from his nation to slam a century on test captaincy on debut, joining the likes of Virat Kohli and others. 

Shubman Gill achieved the feat on day one of the ongoing first test against the England Cricket Team. The match between the two teams is at Headingley in Leeds, which commenced on Friday (20th June). 

In what was his maiden test innings, Shubman Gill slammed a magnificent test century and proved why selectors named him as skipper. He walked out to bat at four and made sure he set the stage on fire, slamming England bowlers all over the park. 

Shubman Gill hit his sixth test century and first in SENA countries as he played an unbeaten innings of 127 on day one. Thanks to his heroics, India had a dominating outing as he posted over 300 runs on the board and put England on the back foot. 

Apart from Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star batter. He opened the innings and played a blinder of an innings. He also hit his century and provided a great start to the Indian Cricket Team, adding 91 91-run partnership with KL Rahul, who scored 42 runs.
