Shreyas Iyer Finally In T20Is; replaces Tilak Varma for IND vs NZ series, Ravi Bishnoi added for injured Washington Sundar
In what has been the latest development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added Shreyas Iyer to the T20I team for the first three IND vs NZ T20Is. The right-hander has replaced injured Tilak Varma, who was ruled out of the first three T20Is.
Shreyas Iyer, who last played for India in T20Is has been added to the squad on the back of his solid performances in the IPL as well as for India in ODIs. In the IPL 2025, he took Punjab Kings to the final and slammed over 600 runs.
The three IND vs NZ T20Is will be important for him in the context of the T20 World Cup 2026. If he bats well then there are chances that he might get add into the side for the mega event.
Ravi Bishnoi replaces injured Washington Sundar in IND vs NZ T20Is

India have also suffered a big blow as Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the entire IND vs NZ series. He suffered a rib injury in the first ODI and was ruled out of the three-match series as well.Β
In his place, the BCCI has added Ravi Bishnoi to the team for the series. Releasing an official statement, BCCI said:
"Washington Sundar underwent scans after reporting an acute onset of discomfort in his lower rib area while bowling during the first ODI against New Zealand at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara, on 11 January. This was followed by an in-person consultation with an expert. He has been diagnosed with a side strain and has been advised rest for a few days, following which he will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) for further management of his injury.
The all-rounder has been ruled out of the upcoming IDFC First Bank T20I series against New Zealand. The Menβs Selection Committee has named Ravi Bishnoi as his replacement. The Menβs Selection Committee has also added Shreyas Iyer to the T20I squad for the first three matches as a replacement for the injured Tilak Varma."
