Pakistan Cricket Board Humiliated

Pakistan Cricket Board humiliated as Cricket West Indies (CWI) rejected their request to change ODI matches to T20Is for the August 2025 Caribbean tour. The PCB wanted more T20I games to prepare for the Asia Cup 2025 and the 2026 T20 World Cup.

However, CWI stuck to the original schedule of three ODIs and three T20Is, with ticket sales already launched.

This setback, reported on July 5, 2025, adds to the PCB’s challenges amid tensions with India and financial strain from the 2025 Champions Trophy.

PCB’s Request Turned Down

Pakistan Cricket Board humiliated when Cricket West Indies said no to changing three ODIs to T20Is for Pakistan’s August 2025 tour. The PCB wanted extra T20Is to get ready for the Asia Cup 2025, set for September in the UAE, and the 2026 T20 World Cup

CWI, having started ticket sales for the planned series, refused to change the format. The series keeps its schedule, starting July 31 with T20Is in Florida.

Why PCB Wanted T20Is

Pakistan Cricket Board humiliated as their plan to focus on T20 cricket failed. The Asia Cup 2025, in T20 format, and the 2026 T20 World Cup are big goals for Pakistan. More T20I matches against West Indies would have helped stars like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi sharpen their skills.

The PCB’s push came after a tough Bangladesh T20I series, set for July 20-24 in Dhaka. CWI’s rejection limits Pakistan’s practice chances.

Financial and Political Struggles

Pakistan Cricket Board humiliated adds to their ongoing issues. The 2025 Champions Trophy saw losses of over PKR 7 billion due to India playing in Dubai and poor ticket sales. The PCB took a PKR 3-6 billion overdraft to manage costs.

With India likely to face Pakistan in the Asia Cup, tensions from the Pahalgam attack could affect planning. The PCB, led by Mohsin Naqvi, faces pressure to stabilize finances and team focus.

Impact on Asia Cup Prep

Pakistan Cricket Board humiliated means less T20I experience before the Asia Cup. The tournament, likely starting September 5, 2025, in the UAE, features a big India-Pakistan clash on September 7.

Pakistan’s three T20Is against West Indies in Florida and three against Bangladesh are their only prep. The rejected request limits their ability to fine-tune strategies, putting more weight on players like Mohammad Rizwan to perform under pressure.
