Vivo IPL 2021: IPL Players to get less salary if they miss Phase 2 of the Vivo IPL 2021 in the UAE.

Vivo IPL 2021: The Season fourteenth of the elite Indian Premier League (IPL) was stopped halfway through the tournament on May 4. With the increase in the number of Covid cases inside the franchise camps, the operating system decided to stop its operations for now. However, the recent announcement from the Indian board encouraged many people as the IPL 2021 will begin in UAE during the September-October window.

Although the situation in the UAE is pretty much under control and there can be easy conduct to the remaining 31 games, the biggest challenge for the Indian board is to rope in overseas cricketers for the UAE leg.

As per several reports, it is learnt that top overseas recruits of the IPL might miss on the UAE leg due to workload management and the hectic international calendar ahead. The likes of Aussie pacer Pat Cummins and English all-rounder Ben Stokes are already out of the contention.

The BCCI is in talks with their overseas counterparts to check the possible availability of overseas players and take the decisions accordingly.

Players to receive half salaries if they opt out of IPL 2021

In light of the same issue, the senior BCCI official informed that the players who will miss Phase 2 will get a pay cut. Cricketers will be handed over only half the money for their services. For Example, Australian pacer Pat Cummins, who is bought by KKR for INR 15.5 Crores, will only be paid INR 7.75 Crores (if he doesn’t join the franchise for the second half) for his participation in the first half.

“Yes it is correct, in case they (foreign players) can’t make it to UAE for IPL, franchises will be within their right to cut their salaries and pay them only on a PRO-RATA basis,” said the BCCI official as quoted by Inside Sport.

The cricketers are paid their salaries in instalments over the period of 12 months. A player is given a full salary if he participates in the whole tournament. The player is deemed eligible to get his complete salary if he gets ruled out due to injuries, however, if for some reasons, the player opt-out of the league then a pro-rata basis is followed to pay him his salary.
