Vivo IPL 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly in constant talks with their West Indies counterparts to prepone the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021 which is scheduled between August 28 and September 19.

As per the reports, the BCCI has asked Cricket West Indies (CWI) to begin the CPL couple of days earlier so as to get ample time to reschedule the suspended Vivo IPL 2021.

The Special General Meeting (SGM) of the BCCI and other Indian office bearers on 29th May, unanimously decided to restart the elite tournament in UAE in the window of September-October. The lucrative league was indefinitely postponed by the BCCI after several franchises reported covid positive cases inside the bio-secure bubbles.

BCCI is hoping to get CPL prepone by a week: Source

A close source of BCCI who is in know of the development said that the board is hoping to come to an agreement so that the CPL can be finished a week earlier or so.

“We are in talks with Cricket West Indies. We are hoping that if CPL can be finished a few days in advance, it would help in a bubble to bubble transfer of all players to Dubai and in time to complete the mandatory three-day quarantine,” said a close source to the BCCI.

“Similarly, the West Indies players will also fly in after completing the Caribbean Premier League engagements. There will be a three-day quarantine for players arriving from the UK and the Caribbean,” the official further added.

If the Indian board headed by Sourav Ganguly and their West Indies equivalent fails to get to an agreement, the IPL might miss out on a couple of big Caribbean hitters. The players associated with CPL will certainly have to serve the three days mandatory quarantine period.

The likes of Kolkata Knight Riders’ Andre Russell, Mumbai Indians’ Kieron Pollard, Punjab Kings’ Chris Gayle, Delhi Capitals’ Shimron Hetmyre and Chennai Super Kings’ Dwayne Bravo will miss a couple of earlier games due to the clash of the Vivo IPL 2021 and CPL Season 9.

Moreover, Brandon McCullum who is the coach of Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and coach of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will also miss a couple of IPL games.
