Vivo IPL 2021: After the abrupt suspension of the Indian T20 League on Tuesday, the BCCI have sent as many as eight England players back home while the Australian players will have to wait a little longer to reach home due to a travel ban imposed by the Australian government.

On Tuesday, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla announced that the Fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will get suspended for an indefinite time due to the outbreak of the covid-19 in the bio-bubbles.

As per the reports, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes, Jason Roy and Moeen Ali have safely landed in London on Wednesday morning while Eoin Morgan, Chris Jordan and Dawid Malan will have a flight in the next 48 hours.

As far as the Australian players are concerned, the BCCI has planned to take them either Sri Lanka or the Maldives so that they can wait there.

“What the BCCI are working to do is to move the entire cohort out of India where they will wait until it’s possible to return to Australia,” CA interim Chief Executive Nick Hockley told reporters in Sydney.

“That’s now narrowed down to the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The BCCI are committed not only to the first move, but also to putting on a charter to bring them back to Australia.”

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey who had tested covid positive will remain in India and complete his quarantine period.

BCCI will airlift as many as 38-Australian members including players, coaches, commentators and match officials.

The Australian government has imposed a complete ban on Indian travellers till May 15th due to the upsurge in the covid cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, India has recorded over 3.82 Lakhs fresh covid cases.
